Ballet Folcklorico Sol Del Desierto seeks to preserve the Mexican culture and heritage through dance; pass on traditional art to the next generation; promote cultural awareness and understanding. Ballet Folcklorico Sol Del Desierto is a pre-literate form of human expression that is passed on from teacher to student.
In existence for over 36 years and currently, the group consists of 35 dancers from ages 3 to 75. The director Francisca De Leon initiated the dance troupe and now her daughter Maribel De Leon, MBA, dance instructor continues to preserve the traditions by using her artistic flair to illuminate Mexican history and culture within the innovative choreography.
